fun survey thingy

The rules of the game are: With as much creativity as you can muster, show your heart in one picture, one poem, one song or piece of music, one phrase or quote, one item of clothing, one place, and one Disney princess.

1 picture:

1 poem:
O sweet spontaneous
earth how often have

fingers of
purient philosophers pinched

, has the naughty thumb
of science prodded

beauty . how
often have religions taken
thee upon their scraggy knees
squeezing and

buffeting thee that thou mightest conceive

to the incomparable
couch of death thy

thou answerest

them only with

-e.e. cummings

1 song:

(the video is super whatever, it's all about the song!)

1 phrase/quote:
"to find yourself, think for yourself."

1 item of clothing:
ruffly, girly blouses, mmmmmmmmmm!

1 place:
there are two apple trees in my mom's backyard. one of them was way more climbable, with wide, outstretched branches and fat red apples. this tree will always have a place in my heart because it was such a big part of my childhood. it seemed like my brothers and i spent whole summers in that tree, terrorizing birds, being warriors, having water fights, building terrible treehouses, climbing as high as we could into the sun and eating tangerines, our fingers and faces sticky and smiling. i had no worries in this tree. no fear of falling.

1 disney princess:
i have always been fond of princess aurora from sleeping beauty. wouldn't you know it, i still so do enjoy sleep. : )

here are a few of the inspiring things i have found on the interwebs this month:

i also found this lovely quote:

"every creature on earth has approximately two billion heartbeats to spend in a lifetime. you can spend them slowly, like a tortoise, and live to be two hundred years old, or spend them fast, like a hummingbird, and live to be two years old."
- brian doyle, from the best american essays (2005)

i hope you find them inspiring as well!

postsecret postcard of the week

to which someone replied:
"Art doesn't have to be on a canvas or in a museum. I think you make art by being exactly who you are."

both lovely sentiments!
i feel like this sometimes, though i mostly feel my "art" isn't really ART at all, but merely a poor facsimile of what i think art should be. i wonder when i will be exposed for the uninspired poseur that i really am.

dance dance dance dance dance to the radio...

joy division cape?! amaze!

i heart girls!

this is my fave song by one of my new favorite bands. their myspace is semi- slim pickins, but check them out plz kthxbai!

aw, someone thinks she's beyonce!

but i'm not mad at this song...

i don't technically have anything against twitter, but it is pretty pointless, and it seems even more vain than facebook and myspace (yeah, yeah, i have both!) what's your opinion?

because mandals just aren't douchey enough:

satan gives you the (pointless) "topless sandal"

lomography saves lives!

or at least my will to shoot!
i shed TEARS the day i found out polaroid was putting the kebosh on instant film. yup. cried. polaroid pictures make me happy like nothing else. i got my diana and things were looking up! but, there was still a part of me longing for polaroids... then, i saw this little guy. not too pricey, but too much to spend in my opinion. i mean, my polaroid camera cost $35 new! i couldn't afford a new camera anyhow...
the search continued.
my friends and i have even said that a polaroid version of diana would be AMAZE. the be-all, end-all, even. i love my diana, but getting 120 film developed takes me forever.
i checked my e-mail this morning and BAM! there it was!
the diana + instant back!
let the penny pinching commence!

i simply cannot wait!

"we've been like sid and nancy for months now."
"we have some disagreements, but i hardly think i'm sid vicious."
"no! i'm sid!"
"oh, so i'm nancy?!"

two of my favorite actors of all time?! it's better than a dream!

poor lil wayne (fans)

Fans of Beyonce's music are said to be among the least intelligent, a new study has found. Conversely, fans of "Indie Rock" and Beethoven have higher SAT scores. Lil Wayne fans had the lowest SAT scores...
Question: What if you like indie rock and Lil Wayne? Hmmmmmm...

Tell me how smart I am!

my week!

hi, lovies! this is what i have been up to this week:
me, kara and jessica went and saw our friends in white cloud perform at the stork club. i suggest you lurk their myspace, especially my favorite song, friendly friend!
they were amazing, as always! they have this darker, beachy vibe that i absolutely adore, plus all those handsome boys play all of the instruments, which rules! i like when the fellas get all sub saharan and add some filthy jungle beats. white cloud is definitely on some next level shit!
then on friday jess and i went and saw that ghost and st. vincent perform at the great american music hall, but neither of us were feeling too hot so we left a liiiitle early!
saturday we headed out to lights down low and danced the night away celebrating jess' birthday. we had so very much fun!
at some point during the night, i broke the straps on BOTH my shoes! boo.
and what's this? why, we ran into one mr. trevor skeet skeet again! and he remembered us!
more photos to come when i get the pictures from my diana developed!
i live for these moments!
